Rubio, UAE Security Adviser Discuss Strait of Hormuz and Regional Security
1. Marco Rubio–UAE security talks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two discussed important regional security issues, amid heightened tensions across the Middle East.
2. Israeli air strike kills Palestinians in Gaza City
An Israeli air strike on Gaza City killed at least seven Palestinians, including a child. The Israeli military said the strike was aimed at what it described as “Hamas commanders.”
3. NATO warns it will defend all allies
A NATO official told Reuters that the alliance is prepared to respond to any threat and will “always do what is necessary to defend all allies.”
The statement came after questions about a Financial Times report claiming that Iran had allegedly considered attacking US military targets in Europe if US President Donald Trump escalated the war.
The NATO official pointed to NATO's air-defence response earlier this year, saying NATO systems successfully intercepted ballistic missiles heading toward Türkiye from Iran on four separate occasions. According to the official, NATO's deterrence and defence posture remains “strong and effective.”
4. Israeli forces conduct major raid in Syria’s Quneitra
Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that more than 100 Israeli military personnel, using around 15 military vehicles, took part in a raid in Jubata al-Khashab in the northern countryside of Syria’s Quneitra province.
Israeli forces reportedly detained two people during the operation.
SANA also reported that Israeli forces shelled the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Deraa.
Overall situation
