China Backs Dialogue as UK, France and Canada Take Tougher Line on Israel

The United Kingdom says France and Canada will join it in restricting goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The move comes amid growing international concern over increased settler violence and the continued expansion of Israeli settlements, which are widely considered illegal under international law.

                                                                        

At the same time, diplomatic efforts involving Iran, the United States and regional countries are continuing. Qatar says it is working with regional and international partners, including China, to help restart negotiations between Washington and Tehran. China’s involvement highlights Beijing’s growing role in efforts to promote dialogue and reduce tensions in the region.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has adopted a tougher tone, saying Iran will continue its resistance with strength until those he describes as “aggressors” regret their actions. His comments suggest that Tehran remains firm on its position despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

                                                                         

Meanwhile, fighting is intensifying in Yemen. Forces loyal to Yemen’s internationally recognised government have launched counterattacks against the Houthi rebels, with officials saying the objective is to regain control of Sanaa, the country’s capital. The Houthis are aligned with Iran, making the conflict another important part of the wider regional tensions.
